Fern Clyffe State Park Camp and Ride
November, 2023

 

All my locals buddies were invited to camp and ride but only one could get away.
Jay Grafton on his Honda CT125-----red of course.
Me and my wife had been camping and riding in Indiana the last few days at the 'Loosenut" ride.
And after that we moved to Fern Clyffe State park for more camping and riding.
We had plenty of firewood to last several days and we made good use of it.
My wife luvs and campfire---------even in the morning.

Everyday I was ready to ride---threw open the camper door and blurted out.
"Here I Am To Save The Day" !!!!

 

 

I rode my trusty Honda CT125---about all I've been riding lately.

 

 

 

There is a waterfall in the Shawneed Forest I never heard of "Bonus Falls"
Found it on Google earth one day and plotted the waypoint.
We had to hike a bit to it--no water today as it had been dry but I was tickled to have
found it as I had never knew anybody that heard of it or been to it.

 

 

 

 

 

 

We also notice what had once been a road way right over the top of the falls
and went North----we also found where it came out on Martin Cave road and was
gated at that end.

 

And on we go --------wandering around

 

 

 

 

Just goofing around I knew this zipline place was down here but not sure where it was at.

 

 

 

And Jay runs into an old buddy---a flying buddy---------Jay is a pilot instructor at the Mt. Vernon Airport.
He was riding a bicycle-------I knew him too and had rode some long bicycle rides with him
years ago. He was on a gravel bike.

 

 

It was after that me and Jay went down and old dirt road we hadn't been down in 10 years or better.
And it was hear going up a steep hill my skidplate hit a large embedded rock and....Well...you see what happened.
For a minute I wasn't sure if I was hurt or not.

 

 

 

Jay was following me and knew I was hurt and ran up to help me.
I kind of thought I was OK and told him to get the picture---and we got a picture of each
other taking a picture.

 

 

I was due for a break

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The ride thru here was so beautiful. I want to go back.

I think not !!!!

 

 

A soft bed of pine needles to ride on ad we slowly and very quietly crept thru the forest.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Back at camp my wife had a campfire going for us.
She had fixed us breakfast that morning and dinner that evening.

As I lay in bed that night I asked myself again..........."Did I do everything I could do today ??"
Yes I did.
