First Off---Camping and riding in Mammoth Cave National
Park--We didn't some to see the cave
even tho I've read it's the largest in the world ???
I took off on my Honda CT125 to find and ride on a couple ferries in the park.
This is the "Green River Ferry"
Pretty interesting---a diesel engine runs a hydraulic pump that powers and old fashion paddle wheel.
Kind of funny---the ferry only has to move about 50 ft.
Hope I'm telling this right-------but originally the only
to get to the cave was
on a steam locomotive---before a road was built.
Another day me and my wife Debi crossed the river on our
bicycles.
Didi our little doggy rode in the trailer.
The ferry was clearly signed "No Trailers or RV's ---So how did that
go?????
After crossing the green river I headed to Houchin's ferry,
Then an old Lock and Dam
Locals said this Lock and dam hadn't been used in 60 years and told me the dam was wooden.
I hid behind this sign catching speeders as they roared by.

We moved here after a few days at Mammoth cave National Park and stayed a few days.
And I crossed another river on that last running ferry
in Kentucky--------so I was told.
This was just a little Southeast of Burksville, Ky.

We moved to Smitty's motorcycle campground in Tellico Plains,
TN
And boy did we do some riding ----and 2 of my lifelong friends showed up on
their dualsports.
My buddies had heard of the infamous creek crossing from
hell on Witt road just outside of Tellico, Plains.
This is on the Trans America Trail.
If you haven't heard of this creek crossing----you will never forget if you
do cross it.
The grooved rocks are always slick as snot and have taken down thousands of
riders.
It looks easy----------it's "SNOT"
I crossed it once on my WR250R and made it OK----I was
not good---------I was lucky.
My riding buddies body went completely under water---but the bike was OK.
Still think it's no problem----------you are wrong.
