Missississippi---Tennessee
Lake Hill Motors Ride
Rode my Himilayan, Honda 250 Rally and my bicycle.
I've been riding pretty much everyday since the COVID--but mostly local.
So it was time to get away for a bit.
Me and Debi had been down South all winter and barely got home when
all this stuff happened.
Drove to Corinth Mississippi for a nice ride put on by
a bike shop there "Lake Hill Motors"
in conjunction with Sam Correro (inventor of the TAT) if you didn't know.
Brought and rode 2 motorcycles and my bicycle.
The Ride was a Saturday and Sunday thing---but I arrived
early and went for a ride
on my Royal Enfield Himilayan.
So much history and things to see in here.
I'm not going to get into all that---I'd be typing for days. Google it.
I made a point of riding every single road in the park.
I've been thru here before but that was a quick pass thru.
I turned on my "Codgitator" (old man behing the handlebars) and
poked around.
That's the Tennessee River
I crossed the Tennessee River at the Pickwick lock and
dam.
It's a hydro electric facility and I'm pretty sure this was part of the hydro
unit
and not a boat propeller. I used to come to this area for many years in my
BMW days----You
didn't know I rode BMW's did you ??? Had a dozen or more.
Before BigDogAdventures
and the internet.
I attended a rally here. "The Return To Shilo Rally"
This same day I thought I'd run by Sam Correro's house
and see if he was there.
Him and his girlfriend (on the trike) and others were there with engines running
and I
joined in. Sam is 81 years old---don't make fun of him on a 3 wheeler -------he's
been riding
dirt bikes before you snot nosed millenials were even born.
Somewhere along the ride we had a great lunch.
We rode pavement---but Sam knew some good stuff----------I was not bored.
So Saturday the ride starts---it's about a 400 mile 2 day
ride and I hook up with a guy I've
known for a very long time. In the middle is my friend Charles Williamson---and
to the right
is his son Matt---and Matt kept a close eye on us old farts. I felt comfortable
knowing he'd pick us
up if we fell.
Charles has sent me some "Itchy Boots" stickers-------if you don't
know who that is---google it,
you'll be amazed at this woman and how she travels-------alone.
Down by Pickwick Dam there is the "Botel"
It's a boat-----it's a motel ????
Almost destroyed by a flood not long ago.
If you drive your semi down this road you are in deep doo-doo.
You may have to drive your semi 15 miles--------backwards on a narrow rutted
dirt and gravel road.
What's this you ask ?????
It's a "CRITTER" bike.
There were several die hard critter riders on this ride.
They have rules----the first-----never do any maintenance to your bike----wait
till it breaks or
quits in the middle of nowhere--------then address the situation and never,
I mean never
fix an oil leak.
In this town for lunch and gas---there were 2 gas stations.
Both looked like this---------a lot of riders.
Social distancing
I really don't have a wad of pictures about this ride---the
video at the end says more than
anything. But the backroads were beautiful.
What the hell is going on here ???????
Sam Correro on the left is giving me advice on how to get thru the obstacle
in front of me.
A huge pile of very big rocks that you can't ride over---and have to be very
careful to ride around.
Did I say we rode past a road closed sign ??? Yeh------------we did.
There were maybe a hundred riders out on this ride-------Sam pulled this trailer
around
in case somebody needed help. Because he's a nice guy.
