After about 300 miles we turned West toward Stewart BC
to the Bear Glacier.

The ride in here is over the top with many waterfalls all around you.

We aquired a motel in Stewart and unloaded all un-necessary
gear off our bikes to ride about 25 miles to the Salmon Glacier
which is in Alaska----passing thru Hyder, Alaska.
It's a rough, dusty pot holed road---but not technical at all.

Some people might say this is the most photo-genic place in all of Alaska.

Going from Stewart BC into Hyder we faced no presence of border patrol--------but did coming back into BC ???

Day 12
My bike setup on this ride was absolutely spot on.
The only thing I could of left home were my tools---------but of course I'd
never do that.
That rear pouch on my Mosko Moto bags had a 1/2 gallon gas can in it--same
on the other side---I never used them but
came oh so close.
We headed further South after getting gas at the Junction outside of Stewart------towards Smithers.

We made it all the way to Prince George on this day and got a motel.
Day13
Day 14
Today was a great day as we would cross rivers on 2 ferries.
This ferry takes you across to Fauquier on the other side.
This was the neatest ferry as it had no tug pulling it across------nor was
it driveable.
There was a huge cable across the river that laid on the bottom and the ferry
pulled itself across.
I never heard of such a thing. We were told the cable was no threat to other
boating as it laid on the bottom.

%20(1280x960).jpg)
Glen had never been on a ferry-------------he was excited.
Me too-------I love these things. Got a bunch of them around my house.

%20(1280x960).jpg)
%20(1280x960).jpg)
We rode North to Nakusp then back South to South Solcan------then
East to the Kootenay ferry which was so much bigger
and was just fo much fun. We pulled up to the loading dock and had just missed
the ferry. I was starving and ask the gal if
we had time to get a burger at the place that was not more than 100 yards
from us.
So off we went to get a burger. We could keep an eye on the ferry when it
came in.
Actually there are 2 ferries running here as it's a 7 mile ride diagonally
up the river.
When loading you'd ride out to the ferry on that wooden tressel like thing
you see.
%20(1280x960).jpg)
%20(1280x960).jpg)
I was a bit nervous while eating my burger and waiting
for the ferry.
Our bikes were first in line and blocking everyone else.
So before actually finishing my burger in the store I went out to make sure
nobody ran over our bikes.
This ferry was huge as a seemingly endless line of all kinds of vehicles came
off it.

%20(1280x960).jpg)
This ferry got to rocking pretty good one time and if it
wasn't for those guys down there I think they would have
fell over.
%20(1280x960).jpg)
It's free-------------I like free !!!!

%20(1280x960).jpg)
We ended up that night in the Mountain View Inn in Creston BC. Really nice place with 2 bedrooms.
Day 14
We got to the border crossing in Porthill
right before they opened-------I've never crossed here--it's a small crossing.
At 8 AM we made the crossing and headed South and pulled over at Kootenay
Falls.
It was a bit of a hike to the falls in my riding gear and clumsy boots----------I'm
also clumsy, so I was careful.
It was a good mile back in there I think.
%20(1280x960).jpg)
Here-----you went up stairs and over the railroad tracks through this.

There was also a trail to this swinging bridge which neither
of us took. I so wish I had changed into my shorts and sandals
as I love bridge. But I got this pic off the internet-------but,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,I
wasn't there dang it.
